3 BC Provincial Parks To Visit

BC Provincial Parks To Visit

Being born and raised in BC, it has been such a great experience RVing and exploring all of the amazing Provincial Parks BC has to offer.

There are so many amazing ones worth a visit, but today we’d like to share three that if you haven’t been to, you need to add to your campground list! Two of them we hadn’t heard much of but loved, and the third we knew of but had never been, and WOW! It is worth the trip in your RV.

Our first recommendation is the campground at Mermaid's Cove in Saltery Bay Provincial Park. This Provincial Park campground is the perfect spot to enjoy the Sunshine Coast. The campsites themselves are well organized and peaceful, and only a short walk to the ocean. Down by the ocean, there is a beautiful walk out on the rocks around the cove with Park benches and picnic tables to relax at. There you can sit back with the Arbutus trees and watch the changing tides and catch some sunsets over the ocean. The sunsets here really make the name Sunshine Coast seem fitting. This Provincial Park is located near the historic town of Powell River which is a great place to restock your RV and explore the town’s past.

Next on our list is Ellison Provincial Park. This one is located under an hour from our hometown of Sicamous and it had never even crossed our mind to camp there. The campsites were private and charming, but the views and scenery were AMAZING. The campground is located on a small cliff above the Okanagan Lake, which provides great views and sunsets. They even have an ‘Evening Trail’ to take to get a great view of the sunset. There are nice paths down the hill to three separate beach areas with some of the most beautiful turquoise waters we’ve seen in BC. It’s a short walk to access the beaches from the campground and the opportunity to swim in the famous Okanagan Lake with all its many beaches is worth the trip. We were certainly surprised by how nice of an area it is and surprised that we had not considered camping here before!

Last but certainly not least, is Bear Creek Provincial Park located near West Kelowna – across the bridge from Kelowna. This BC Provincial Park has it all, no matter what your camping style is. It’s located in the heart of the Okanagan, only a 20 minute drive to downtown Kelowna if you would like to check out the city. There are so many things you can do in the Okanagan including hiking, biking, water sports, visiting the countless wineries and so much more. The campground itself has full hook-up options with sewer, water and electric sites available. They also have Electric only sites located steps from the beach, and more private sites located in the shady forest or by the Creek with no hookups. The beach is amazing being on the warm Okanagan Lake, there are huge green space areas for games and kids to play, a hike to a waterfall lookout all while being right near one of BC’s most popular tourist destinations. The surrounding area has gorgeous homes along the water’s edge, reminding you of the privilege to be able to experience and camp in such a location. With that said, be sure to book well in advance though as this campground is a very competitive one!

Hopefully out of these three amazing BC Provincial Park Campgrounds, at least one of them is a new spot for you to consider taking your RV out camping too! BC has so many amazing Provincial Parks that you really can’t go wrong, but these are sure to leave some great lasting memories. Take care and happy camping out there!
