RV Battery Maintenance Tips
Disconnect your battery if you are not using your RV over an extended period of time Never overcharge your battery or attempt to charge batteries that are frozen Monitor your battery on a regular basis (Monthly inspections recommended) to ensure your battery, terminals and cables are free of corrosion, dirt and abnormal wear Check if your terminals are properly connected – tighten and secure as required Monitor the water level in your battery on a monthly basis and replenish as required with distilled water Keep the battery container and terminals clean of corrosion, oil and dirt using a 50/50 solution of baking soda and water. To prevent the solution from entering the battery cells ensure the vent caps are tight before cleaning Another tip to ensure your batteries last longer is to consider using Solar Panels as a secondary source of power.
